Department of Rural Health

The Department of Rural Health encompasses several sectors that support students in rural accommodation including Going Rural Health, Dookie Campus and Creswick Campus.

The Department of Rural Health provides professional health education and research training in a rural context. Located at three large regional centres in country Victoria - Shepparton, Wangaratta and Ballarat. Offering a variety of accommodation options and financial support packages for students throughout Victoria and have affiliations with a range of alternative accommodation providers.

Going Rural Health

Going Rural Health is an initiative run by The University of Melbourne Department of Rural Health (UDRH).

Through funding from the Australian Government Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program, programs have been developed to support students enrolled in a nationally recognised nursing, allied health or other health science undergraduate or postgraduate degree at any Australian University.

Going Rural Health support students in accommodation by proving subsidised accommodation or financia support subject to elgibility.

Creswick Campus

The Creswick Campus has been a centre for Forest Science and research since 1910, and is home to the Mathematical Research Institute (MATRIX).

Located approximately 130 km north-west of Melbourne, in the town of Creswick near Ballarat in a forest setting with heritage-listed buildings, the campus has been a centre for research and teaching in forest science since 1910.

The campus is situated on 15 hectares of land with adjacent native and plantation forests and thanks to the support of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), is equipped with analytical, teaching, microscopy and forest industry laboratories.

Dookie Campus

Dookie campus is an agricultural facility set on the tranquil rolling hills between Shepparton and Benalla in Victoria, Australia.

Accommodation at Dookie includes a small community with a variety of housing from dormitories to self-contained cottages, a range of conference venues, recreational and sporting facilities, and a natural bush reserve and Mount Major within its surroundings.
